The scariest night of my life.......

Last night, Gradyn & Sawyer decided to take off all by themselves without telling anyone. You ask how this could possibly happen? You don't know Sawyer or Gradyn. They were playing outside with the rest of the Holbrooklets & Tanner having a keen ol' time. Then 5 minutes later when we went to call them in, no where to be seen. This was around 7:00. We still had not found them by 8:00, so we had to call the police and I had to call Chad home from work.(he is working nights now) We got a call from the MP's at Camp Hansen (marine base about 20 minutes north of here) around 9:00. Needless to say I was frantic. We had everyone combing the streets. Apparently three American ladies saw them crying on the side of the road and stopped to help. Sawyer later told me that he asked them if they were going to take him and call him mean names. They said no, and convinced the boys to go with them. They gave them some cheeze its and called the MP's ; then the boys were taken to Camp Hansen. We got to the camp around 9:30. It was the longest 2 1/2 hours of my life. I totally broke down when I saw him sitting at the table drinking his Gatorade. I couldn't let go of him. He just kept stroking my hair telling me "I'm fine, I was brave Mom". I have never felt so completely helpless in my entire life. Thank heaven for good Samaritans. Thank heaven for answered prayers!! He is home safe & sound. He got a free day off of school today cos I just couldn't bear to let him out of my sight today!!

I just couldn't imagine your panic. With all that happens in this scary world. Thank goodness for the kind people still left in the world. What a blessing. I'm glad everything worked out. Perhaps a good lesson for him. I don't blame you for wanting to keep him home. Whew!

As for Chad...I hope you enjoy your new calling. Congrats! It seems a little wierd to say congrats, you just gained a whole new load of responsibilities and work, but the blessings, oh the blessings! :)

wow- that is scary! I'm glad everthing turned out ok- do you remember in Minot when Megan and her friend ran away and I got taken into the police station by Candy McGinnis' husband? that was not fun- It is just so scary when you dont know what has happened- so I feel you!

Holy Crap! That would kill me.. I love what he said though seriously I mean I don't know how you taught him to say no to strangers that way but you did one heck of a job! And I love that he was stroking your hair trying to comfort you what a knight in shining armor!
